The Burren Perfumery is a family company that we run at a small scale with our wonderful local staff. Our aim is to be better than the best of the large brands in the quality of our products.
Relax in the rose covered Tea Rooms, which serve a mouth watering selection of organic cakes, scones and pies. Homemade soups with freshly baked bread, selections of local cheeses and salads all made with organic vegetables from local suppliers accompanied by herbal teas from the garden and coffees from around the world.
Each year we make more than four tonnes of soap by hand at the Perfumery. That’s a lot of soap! And when you consider that each 100g bar is then lovingly wrapped by hand, you can see that we spend a lot of time in the Soap Room.
In the Blending Room Rose and Cate make our range of organic creams and balms. The products are made in small batches, usually 30 to 50 units at a time. We never hold large stocks of our products, choosing instead to manufacture only as needed. In this way we ensure that the product you receive from us are as fresh as possible.
The Burren Perfumery Organic Herb Garden was planted in 1999. Our intention is to provide our visitors with examples of native herbs and information on their traditional uses. The garden also contains a number of small, secluded areas where people can sit and relax in the quiet of the Burren. The Herb Garden is free to visitors and open year round. The best time to visit is from May to September.
In 2015 the Burren Perfumery welcomed over 45,000 visitors, a fantastic reflection of the popularity of the Burren as a tourist destination. This record volume of visitors to the Perfumery has underlined our need to protect our visitors’ quality of experience and so we are taking steps to share our Groups & Coaches Policy with you.
You may know that the Perfumery is located on a relatively small site and has limited space for parking. In addition to this, our Tearooms, herb garden, gift shop, AV room and manufacturing rooms cannot cater for unscheduled group visits. Most importantly, our ethos is firmly rooted in giving each and every visitor to the Perfumery our 100% attention along with excellent customer service in a relaxed setting. This is only achievable when we receive visitors in small, informal groups.
With this in mind, we can only accept groups of 8 persons or more by prior appointment. Furthermore, please note that we cannot cater for coaches or mini-buses of any size – we do not have coach parking space or turning facilities.
